I heard James Garner, one of my favorite actors,  reciting this poem in the background of an ad for the Chevrolet Tahoe. I thought it expressed my feelings about cycling almost perfectly.  I did an Internet search and I found that it was ad copy written by Patrick O'Leary for the Tahoe ad. A few days later I found the photo below and it just seemed to be a perfect compliment to the poem. Hope you enjoy both.  -- Jim

Nobody Knows it But Me

There's a place that I travel,
When I want to roam
And nobody knows it but me.

The roads don't go there,
And the signs stay home
And nobody knows it but me.

It's far, far away and way, way afar,
It's over the moon and the sea,
And wherever you are going,
That's wherever you are
And nobody knows it but me.

-Patrick O'Leary

Here's a letter I got from Dick Vershuur in response to a message I sent to let him know I was using his photo:

Dear Jim,

While cycling thru the US, we stayed with people and occasionally watched TV. While in Macon, I saw the commercial you refer to, and for a few days I wished I'd remembered all the words.

And now... you send us the lyrics! Strange huh?

Thank you very much! Please keep it on your website. From where we are now (Cuba) we cannot copy it.

Tailwinds!
Dick (and Els - who is in the hospital with a kidney inflammation)
